Staff at the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) will be doing a static 1,000 mile bike ride at their offices in Andover on November 12 and 13 to raise money for R.A.B.I and Children in Need.
Riders will do 30 and 60 minute slots on four static gym bikes in one of the firm’s meeting rooms at their Charlton Place office.
Michael Lord, AMC’s regional agricultural manager for East Anglia, said: “We have had an uptake of 43 staff so far, some of which are doing multiple slots throughout the 24 hour period. We employ 65 people so it’s been a great uptake.”
Next May / June, the intrepid office workers will be getting on their real bikes to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats inside 24 hours, splitting the route into sections with different people setting off from various points to cover the distance. It’s a big logistical task, with staff and agents completing 50-60 legs of the official route.
AMC specialises in providing mortgage finance for land-based commercial businesses, primarily relating to agriculture, horticulture and equine pursuits.
