Robert Wrinch received the big yellow van from friends dressed as Batman and Robin as a surprise on his 50th birthday.
Robert, an arable farmer from Suffolk, is using his treasured three-wheeler, to produce a calendar detailing her farming adventures as she flies around the fields, even pulling combines and grain trailers! Proceeds from the calendar ‘Adventures of Madge’, which is due out in November, are being donated to R.A.B.I.
Robert’s wife Karen said: “Robert has always wanted a yellow three-wheeled van. For his 50th birthday friends and family decided to club together and buy him one. It definitely looks a bit strange when he jumps in Madge to get about on the farm.”
Karen added: “Farmers like a good laugh and everyone think it’s hilarious. We wanted to do something that would make people smile while raising money for a very worthy charity like R.A.B.I and Madge has quickly become a very popular sight around here.”
Madge has already made her first star appearance – she was the wedding car for a neighbouring farming couple earlier this year.
R.A.B.I regional manager for the East, Lucy Bellefontaine said: “There has been an incredible buzz around the Adventures of Madge calendar – it really celebrates British farming in a unique and exciting way and is in keeping with the fundraising spirit of the Wrinch family. Both Robert and Karen are great supporters of R.A.B.I and have been involved in fundraising and agricultural clubs for a long time, sons Bob and Harry are members of the local Stowmarket YFC and so they are only too aware of the importance of farming to the local community.”
