R.A.B.I’s calendar for 2017, Farming in Focus, was launched at Cereals 2016 in Cambridgeshire this week.
Production of the calendar is supported by the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust and features work donated by some of the country’s best agricultural photographers, all of whom are all members of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists (BGAJ).
Many of the photographers attended the launch, along with Richard Percy, chairman of the NFU Mutual Trust and R.A.B.I trustee Pat Davies.
Pat said: “It’s ironic to be standing here in June launching the 2017 calendar, being a person who complains about Christmas starting in September, but many industries must plan well in advance and farming is a prime example.
“You are here, at Cereals, to make your plans for your 2017 crops. R.A.B.I has to plan ahead too, in effect, to sow for the future. To invest in different ways to ensure we have yields which will provide direct support for up to 2,000 families a year, to ensure a continued source of income for the lifetime of our beneficiaries.
“The crop, if I can call it that, which we are presenting to you today, begins its growth and production just before Christmas when we start collecting the photographs. Its inputs are seed capital from NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, who subsidise the printing costs. The actual seeds are the photographs, donated by talented leading professional photographers who are members of the British Guild of agricultural journalists. These contributions are vital and always impressive. We are grateful to you all.”
There are two versions of the calendar available, for wall (£7.50) and desk (£4), plus postage and packing charges. To order direct, please telephone 01268 888217. You can also pick up a copy at R.A.B.I stands at shows throughout the summer.
