A Christmas hamper raffle and a festive bingo night, arranged by the Carmarthenshire committee, raised over £2,000.
With the support of Bob Jones Prytherch & Co Marts Limited at Carmarthen, committee members attended three Christmas marts to sell raffle tickets for daily hamper prizes. These hampers were full to the brim with donated local produce. Funds were further boosted by a special Christmas bingo night, with chickens and a turkey offered as prizes.
Over 100 people attended the Christmas bingo night. Regular monthly bingo nights held at the mart café from April to December generated over £3,000 this year for county funds.
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, said: “I’d like to thank the Carmarthenshire committee for their tremendous efforts and for giving their time so generously. The monthly bingo evenings have brought in a wonderful sum of money. Our volunteers are dedicated towards our cause and attending the mart on three consecutive days shows their commitment.”
Noel Morgan, joint chair of the Carmarthenshire committee, added: “Committee members have had a busy few days but it means so much to us that people support R.A.B.I because the charity does so much good work in the county.
“We also had a lot of fun chatting to people at the marts. I’d like to thank everyone who supported us through buying a raffle ticket or attending our bingo nights.”
