Elwen Roberts (above, left), HCC’s consumer executive, helped launch the book on the Hybu Cig Cymru stand and cooked a number of dishes during a live demonstration including Yvonne Evans’s recipe for sausage and mash and Mari Grug’s pan roasted Welsh lamb rump. Elwen is a prominent feature at the Show and has been giving cooking demonstrations for more than 25 years and also cooks on S4C’s Prynhawn Da.
Many public figures were spotted at the R.A.B.I pavilion over the four day show, including Labour Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales and Deputy Minister for Farming and Food, Rebecca Evans, and Plaid MP Jonathan Edwards.
Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and AM for South Wales Central region, Andrew Davies, took to Twitter, stating: “Fantastic to see the team @RABICymru-Wales and offer my utmost support for a charity that does so much good work”.
Celebrities such as BBC Countryfile’s Adam Henson, opera singer Bryn Terfel and Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones provided recipes for the new cookbook which aims to build awareness and promote the work of R.A.B.I. The Ceredigion committee were kept busy collating the recipes and thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, were able to put together the bilingual cookbook which features more than 20 recipes.
Five thousand copies of the R.A.B.I cookbook will be published by Y Lolfa and distributed free of charge.
