A quiz night organised by R.A.B.I’s Monmouthshire committee at Maria’s Café in Monmouthshire Livestock Centre has raised over £1,000 for farming families in financial hardship.
This was the second such quiz organised by the newly-formed committee after last year’s event was a resounding success.
R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, Linda Jones, said: “This was the fifth fundraising event hosted by our Monmouthshire committee and we are delighted that once again the kind people of Monmouthshire have supported us.
“Committee members have worked hard to raise awareness of our work in the county and in 2016 we gave out nearly £15,000 of grants in Monmouthshire, more than doubling the £6,000 given out in 2015.”
R.A.B.I county committee secretary Kate Beavan added: “On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone at the Livestock Centre for their help. I’d also like to give a big thank you to all who attended and supporters who donated raffle prizes.”
Thanks also to Malcolm Thomas, our first Welsh chairman in the 157-year history of the charity, for ably taking on the role of quizmaster.
