Charles Hanson, star of TVs Bargain Hunt, showed his support for the farming community by hosting a fine art preview evening at his Derbyshire auction centre.
Charles, one of the country’s top auctioneers, gave a talk and held valuations as guests brought along small items from their homes, including toys, ceramics, silver and jewellery, for him to run his expert eye over.
The evening raised £790 for R.A.B.I, who gave out grants of around £38k in Derbyshire in 2016 – a 52% increase on the previous year. Sue Hall and R.A.B.I’s Derbyshire committee helped organise the event at Hansons on March 28.
Mary Martin, R.A.B.I regional manager for the East Midlands, said: “We had a brilliant evening in Etwall. Guests enjoyed a glass of wine on arrival and brought along lots of interesting items for Charles to value. He also gave a fascinating talk. We’re delighted with the amount of money raised.”
