The concert was arranged by the Brecon & Radnor R.A.B.I committee and local artists Jane Owen-Lowe, Wyn Rees and Teleri-Haf Thomas performed a repertoire of popular songs including ‘Little Donkey’, ‘Cân yr Arad Goch’ and ‘O Holy Night’. Malcolm Thomas MBE, R.A.B.I’s deputy chairman and Welsh trustee, compered the evening and also took charge of the auction, which included a fantastic lot of a chainsaw-carved deer seat – made by R.A.B.I county secretary Kath Shaw.
The Talgarth Community Choir sang eight Christmas songs and dressed in suitable Christmas attire for their rendition of ‘Winter Wonderland’. The audience joined in with the singing of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ at the end of the evening.
R.A.B.I supports many farming families in Brecon & Radnor and has given out grants of around £30,000 in the region during 2015.
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I’s regional manager for Wales, said: “We would like to thank the Brecon & Radnor committee for hosting this wonderful Christmas concert. It was a tremendous evening and I hope that all those who attended the concert enjoyed it as much as I did. It’s good to see the Christmas community spirit is very much alive in Talgarth. This year has been challenging for the farming community and I would urge anyone who is in financial need and has minimal savings to call our confidential Freephone helpline 0808 281 9490 and seek help.”
Elaine Stephens , vice-chair of the Brecon & Radnor R.A.B.I committee, added: “I would personally like to extend my thanks to everyone who attended this concert and to our wonderful artists, their accompanists and the Talgarth Community Choir.”
