A Christmas concert at Ruthin Mart has raised £927 for people in the industry in financial difficulty. The auction ring was full to capacity for the concert, arranged by the R.A.B.I Clwyd committee.
Sian Edwards expertly compered the evening, which included performances from Welsh bass-baritone Meirion Jones and local YFC members Elis Jones and Dafydd Jones. All three sang Troyte’s Chant in a three-part harmony. The congregational singing was accompanied by the Ysgol Brynhyfryd Brass Band who also played some instrumental pieces.
R.A.B.I supports many farming families in Clwyd and has given out grants of around £15,000 in the region this year.
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, said: “It was a superb evening and it’s heartening to see so many people showing their support for the farming community. 2015 has certainly been a challenging year for farmers and I would urge anyone who needs our help to call our Freephone number 0808 2819490 in complete confidence.”
Glyn Colclough, chair of the Clwyd R.A.B.I committee, added: “I would like to thank everyone who attended this concert, our wonderful guest artists and all the businesses who supported us.”
