Derek and Mary Lamplough, members of the East Yorkshire committee, were recognised for their efforts in organising the annual golf days at Diffield Golf Course and collected their award from Vice President of the charity, Lord Plumb in May 2014.
Speaking of the golf day in June, R.A.B.I regional manager Sally Conner said: “We had the most wonderful day at Driffield, 40 teams competed and this competition was extra special because we knew it was Derek and Mary’s last golfing event.
“These events would not have happened if they hadn’t come along to a committee meeting and suggested organising a golf day – the rest, you may say, is history. I would also like to thank all those who took part in the day, as well as the sponsors and people who donated raffle prizes.
Last year, R.A.B.I gave out more than £31.5K in East Yorkshire alone, and Derek and Mary’s fundraising efforts have contributed significantly to our welfare funds. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them both, on behalf of R.A.B.I, for organising such enjoyable events over the past seven years.”
This year’s Driffield golf day raised £6,800 and is booked to take place again on Monday 20 June 2016.
Derek said: “We have spent a lot of time making this day as successful as it is, so we thought it is time to hand it over to somebody else. We are still on the East Yorkshire R.A.B.I. Committee, so you won’t see the last of us yet!”
