The Cumbria committee hosted the event on Sunday evening 18 November at the Greenhill Hotel. Models for the independent fashion shop Bron-Ja of Wigton, a family run business owned by sisters Bronja and Jane, displayed their new autumn and winter styles.
The fashion show was one of the committee’s key fundraising events this year and more than 170 people attended to help raise an incredible £4,200.
The money raised will go toward R.A.B.I’s welfare funds – helping farming people in need in the farming community. This year, to date, R.A.B.I has given out more than £33.5k in grants in Cumbria alone, that’s approximately 40% up on the amount given out at the same point this time last year.
R.A.B.I regional manager for the North West, Georgina Lamb said: “There is a clear picture of need in the North West and the amount we have given out in grants to farming people, both long-term and short-term has risen over the last year. But the committee is also keen to show that as a community, we never lose our sense of fun.”
Georgina added: “Thanks to Barclays match-funding of the event and the committee’s hard work, we have raised a substantial sum to help farming people in financial difficulty.”
