Caroline and Richard Matthews of Felcourt Farm near East Grinstead opened their farm to the public and raised £343 for R.A.B.I. The event was part of Open Farm Sunday and more than 250 people visited their farm.
Visitors were given a tour of the milking parlour, where they got to watch the afternoon milking, before enjoying a tractor and trailer ride around the farm. There was also a display of machinery as well as quizzes organised by Arla Foods and Tesco.
The couple received letters of thanks from some of their guests after the event. One person wrote: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for a lovely afternoon. We all really enjoyed it and learned loads too! After we got home, my kids spent the rest of the afternoon making a dairy farm out of Lego and my son went to sleep cuddling his squishy cow. Many thanks to your whole team for making us all so welcome.”
