Fernleigh Smith, a former secretary and current member of the Ceredigion committee, presented a cheque for £670 to chairman Euros Davies at a fundraising bingo night.
Fernleigh’s husband Mervyn, a stalwart of the committee passed away recently and the family requested donations in lieu of flowers. The £1,340 collected was donated to R.A.B.I and the Cwmcynfelin Care Home.
Euros Davies said: “On behalf of the committee I would like to thank Fernleigh and her family for thinking of us at this difficult time and for presenting us with such a significant sum of money.”
The bingo night was held at the Ffostrasol Arms, Llandysul, and raised £384. The top prize was a hamper, donated by Lyn Evans of St Dogmaels.
Rhian Jones, committee secretary, added: “It’s been a long and hard winter and the late spring hasn’t helped matters. Many farming families are finding life difficult at the moment, but we are here to help. We are very grateful that people turned out to support our bingo night.”
