Volunteers of the R.A.B.I’s Ceredigion committee will be at the Lampeter Agricultural Show to raise awareness of the charity’s work and the new range of Christmas cards and 2017 calendar will be available for purchase.
R.A.B.I is a welfare charity that gives out around £2m per year to farming people in financial need across Wales and England. To fund its work R.A.B.I relies heavily on the work of its 54 county committees, made up of voluntary fundraisers – usually with farming links – who understand the importance of giving something back to others who are enduring tough times, due to such things as animal disease, accidents, ill health or flooding.
At the Lampeter show on Friday August 12, a celebrity cookbook launched last year, thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, will be available on the R.A.B.I stand and committee members are requesting if anybody would like a copy to just ask. Their challenge is to get a copy of the cookbook into every farm kitchen in Ceredigion and help spread the word of the help that is offered to farming families.
A duck race will be held at Glanwern, Talsarn, on Sunday August 21 by kind permission of Mr Gareth Davies. If you haven’t yet bought a duck, call by the R.A.B.I stand at the Lampeter show to be in the running for a cash prize.
Joan Jones, chair of R.A.B.I’s Ceredigion committee, said: “These are very challenging times for farming families. We urge people in financial hardship not to suffer in silence, but to talk to R.A.B.I’s welfare team in complete confidence.”
