The Great Dorset Steam Fair again attracted tens of thousands of visitors for its 47th year running and R.A.B.I regional manager Pam Wills and the Dorset committee were on hand to talk to visitors about the charity’s work in the farming community.
In 2014 R.A.B.I gave out more than £39K in Dorset alone, including one-off and regular grants, as well as funding for essential household items and disability equipment.
The committee held a hog roast event, hosted by the Hooper family, at The Old Dairy Yard at Tarrant Lanceston for around 50 guests and after their delicious meal were driven by vintage steam engine to the Steam Fair site for a pre-show tour.
The Steam Fair is held at the village of Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum on a 600 acre showground. Around 200,000 visitors are said to pass through the gates every year, and the steam locomotives and showman’s engines used to power the event’s fairground remain the major attraction.
