It is with pleasure I attach Your Guide to Taking Part (pdf, 2MB) for the above event to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday on 21 April. R.A.B.I is proud to be part of this special occasion and I would like to encourage you to join us by getting involved in this unique and historic tribute to our monarch.
Your Beacon event can be as large or small as you wish and if you like, you can use it to fundraise for R.A.B.I. Many of our supporters lit beacons or large bonfires for HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and previously, her Golden Jubilee in 2002. In most cases, they used their events to raise money for us. However, you may just want a private event to celebrate with family, friends and those working on your farm or estate. It’s the taking part that’s important.
You will see on the Acknowledgements pages of the Guide that over 250 Beacons have already been confirmed. A number are private events, while others are open to the public. For the first time in history, members of the Army Cadet Force are taking gas-fuelled beacons to the top of the highest peak in each country of the United Kingdom, an amazing feat designed to represent the youth of our nations.
To register your involvement, please see ‘Step 1’ on page three (steps 2-5 are much more for larger public events) and send the organisers your full information as soon as possible (and no later than 10 April), remembering to confirm you are a supporter of R.A.B.I and whether your Beacon event is private; limited entry to raise funds in aid of R.A.B.I; or fully open to the public. Your event will then be listed in the commemorative document that will be sent to HM The Queen after her birthday but, if it is a private event, it will not be publicised beforehand.
If you plan to hold an event in aid of R.A.B.I (irrespective of the intended level of fundraising), then please let us know too by emailing details (including location, likely number of attendees and which type of beacon you will be using) to firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject ‘Beacon event in aid of R.A.B.I’.
Please be kind enough to plan to light your beacon early evening – details of the most preferable time will be sent to you by the organisers in March. If, having read Your Guide to Taking Part, you require any further information, then in the first instance please do not hesitate to contact Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR, Pageantmaster for HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday Beacons at email@example.com.
I very much hope you will be able to participate to pay tribute to our monarch, the patron of R.A.B.I.
