Supporters in Warrington were treated to an evening of song and humour from The Houghton Weavers earlier this month.
R.A.B.I’s hard-working Merseyside Committee organised the sell-out gig at Winwick Leisure Centre and provided half-time snacks and a raffle.
The Houghton Weavers were formed in 1975 and quickly rose to fame, hosting their own show, “Sit Thi Deawn”, which continued for six series over seven years and had the highest viewing figures for any regional television programme. They also had a long-running Radio 2 show, starred in many pantomimes in the North West and have released a total of 24 albums!
The band’s motto is “keep folk smiling”, which they certainly did on this occasion. Thank you to everyone involved in the evening which raised an impressive £2,000.
