A concert held in honour of the High Sheriff of Kent George Jessel raised £817.
Held at the Maidstone Leisure Centre, the concert was performed by the Maidstone Symphony Orchestra with conductor Brian Wright and solo oboist Olivier Stankiewicz. The orchestra was formed in 1910 and currently has 80 members, including BBC Young Musician Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
George Jessel was appointed as High Sheriff earlier this year. As a farmer, one of his goals for his time in this position is to encourage and support rural charities.
Sally Field, regional manager for the South East, said: “I’d like to thank the High Sheriff for choosing R.A.B.I to receive the funds raised at this evening. The event has given the charity great exposure to those who might not have heard of us before.”
