R.A.B.I county chairman for Kent, Charles Tassell received the cheque for £5,338.29 from the Mayor at the council offices in West Malling, he said: “We are very grateful to the Mayor for choosing R.A.B.I as one of her charities this year. R.A.B.I has been helping farming people in financial difficulty for more than 150 years and our work is still relevant as many people in the farming world continue to struggle through no fault of their own. Last year, we gave grants to around 1,400 individuals and families and helped those in need claim close to £380k in state benefits. Many of those we support are struggling to get by on very low incomes and this donation will be invaluable in helping these people make ends meet through their times of crisis.”
The Mayor also presented a cheque for £5,338.29 to Claire Webb of Emilia’s Little Heart, which helps to preserve the emotional wellbeing of children in hospital.
Cllr Luck hosted a variety of fundraising events during her Mayoral year including a karting evening at Buckmore Park, a charity dinner with a display by Nepalese dancers and an evening at the Oast Theatre, she said: “I am delighted to have been able to support R.A.B.I and Emilia’s Little Heart this year. I greatly admire the dedication of those who give up their time to make such a vital difference to all those they support through their work and it’s been a privilege to raise money for two such worthy causes.”
