New enquiries, as well as calls from existing beneficiaries, generally come in via our helpline – 0808 2819490 – which is staffed during office hours. Out of office hours, the call is taken by the Farming Community Network who will contact us on your behalf the next working day.
We are here to listen, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need help or have any questions about our work.
Most new applicants are visited by one of our regional welfare officers who first make sure that people are claiming the state benefits to which they may be entitled. If additional support is needed, we will then help them to apply for an emergency or long-term grant from R.A.B.I.
Those we support must have limited savings and be on a low income, but rather than worry about the criteria, we ask people to contact us - we may still be able to help, even if we can’t give a grant.
The application process includes completing a form, gathering financial information and taking up references. Confidentiality and trust is very important to us and we never disclose information to anyone else without permission.
Our grants committee meets every 6 - 8 weeks to determine applications for help, but in emergencies the process is fast-tracked and payments can be made very quickly. Welfare officers stay in touch with the people we help regularly and the head office team is just a phone call away if further support is needed.
