A lunch to celebrate the wedding of the Newtown couple raised more than £3,000 for farming families as well as Diabetes UK. The happy couple’s parents, Mr & Mrs Edward Gethin and Mr & Mrs Geraint Jones, hosted the Sunday lunch at Gwern y Go, Sarn, Newtown on Sunday July 5 – the day after Andrew and Zara got married.
Guests were entertained by magician Gareth Jenkins and Jim Mason oversaw an auction helping the day’s fundraising total reach the sum of £3,067.
R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, Linda Jones, said: “Farming is a great industry but not everyone can take advantage of the opportunities available and that’s where R.A.B.I can help. We’re proud of the support we can offer. I would like to congratulate Andrew and Zara on their wedding and say a sincere ‘thank you’ from all at R.A.B.I.”
Last year, R.A.B.I gave out more than £44,000 in Montgomeryshire alone.
Montgomeryshire county chairman Louise Corfield added: “The Montgomeryshire committee really appreciates such generosity and kindness. Many congratulations to Andrew and Zara and their families, I wish them all the best for the future.”
