More than 250 people attended the NFU Shropshire Chairman’s Lunch this year, helping to raise £6,500 for farmers in need.
The annual event, organised by the NFU County Chairman and R.A.B.I’s Shropshire Committee, was held this year at Park Hall, Oswestry. Young farmers from Whittington and Oswestry waited on the guests, offering food and drink from local producers.
An auction led by Neale Dalton raised around £1,000, while a raffle made £800. Combined with the donations from the NFU group secretaries, the event raised a total of £6,500 for R.A.B.I. This money will go to support the charity’s work supporting farmers and farming families.
Kate Jones, Regional Manager, said: “The event was a huge success, with the support from the committee and young farmers everything ran so smoothly. There was a wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and a significant amount of money raised!”
