The East Riding Federation of YFCs won the R.A.B.I YFC cup at the charity’s annual awards ceremony for their ‘Not So Young Farmers Rally’.
The award is given to the YFC that has contributed the most to the charity in the previous year. The rally, and the ‘Shed Do’ held in the evening, raised £2,500. North East regional manager Sally Conner presented the award to Charlotte Foreman, Lucinda Maltas and James Buckton.
The event was the brainchild of the East Yorkshire committee, many of whom were previous members of YFCs. They were keen to replicate the fun of a rally, but realised it would not be possible without the help of the East Riding YFCs. Together, they organised the event which saw ex-YFC members competing with current young farmers acting as judges.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “The YFC members were absolutely invaluable. They were amazing with all the set up involved beforehand, and did all the judging and stewarding on the day – not an easy job as the teams were more than a little competitive.”
