Proper Woolly, a two day event showcasing the best of Devon’s wool products, was held at Holsworthy Livestock Market in May and the organisers were in attendance at the Okehampton Show in August to donate their fundraising to R.A.B.I.
It may have rained for the day-long show, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of R.A.B.I Devon Committee who accepted the cheque and, as an added bonus, were announced Best Charity Stand at the show.
Proper Woolly’s website stated: “We’ve caught our breath, had a few early nights, and done the sums – and we’re delighted to announce that Proper Woolly 2015 has raised a significant sum for our two wonderful charities. So after a long hard think…. we have decided to take the plunge and do it all again!” The next Proper Woolly event will be taking place on 27-28 May 2017 at Holsworthy Livestock Market in Devon.
Visitors to the show, which has been held in Okehampton since 1891, enjoyed traditional sheepdog herding and falconry displays, ferret racing and shearing championships.
