A beacon evening to celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th birthday, hosted by George and Charlotte Brown at Warren Farm, Peasemore, has raised an impressive £2,148 for R.A.B.I.
This was the second time George’s hand-crafted steel beacon has been used to mark a royal celebration, the first being the Jubilee back in 2012.
Marquees were erected during the day, just to ensure the rain did not hamper proceedings and the beer tent stocked ready for the crowds.
The position of the farm was perfect for the event, in the most beautiful of surroundings on the top of the hill.
By 7pm the field and the marquee was full of people drinking pints of the delicious beer donated by three local suppliers – Two Cocks Brewery, White Horse Brewery and Butts Brewery. At 7.30pm, our allocated slot, local celebrity Alex Cameron lit the beacon.
Crowds of locals, and those drawn from further afield, filled up on delicious Warren Farm burgers and sausages – all kindly donated by George and Charlotte and expertly cooked by Running Fox Catering.
The evening was finished off with a rather delightful fireworks display, expertly ignited by Ian Wilson. The chatter and merriment continued until dark and a good evening was had by all.
