There were some outstanding performers – of the four-legged variety as well as the two-legged – at Ruthin Livestock Market on December 5.
The market’s Christmas Primestock Show coincided with a carol concert organised by R.A.B.I’s Clwyd county committee. The sum of £1,020 was collected on the evening with Barclays Bank providing match funding to boost the total to more than £2,000.
Compere for the evening was Sian Edwards and Elis Jones performed an old favourite, O Ddwyfol Nos. Dafydd Jones gave an excellent rendition of a Ryan Davies classic, Nadolig, Pwy a Wyr, while Cadi Mars Jones sang the traditional Welsh carol Ganol Gaeaf Noethlwm. All three artists, pictured above, joined forces to perform Troyte’s Chant for a fitting finale, accompanied by Ann Edwards. The community singing was accompanied by young and talented members of the Denbighshire Musical Cooperative Brass Band.
Clwyd R.A.B.I county chair Glyn Coleclough spoke about the charity’s work and ten raffle prizes were up for grabs throughout the Primestock Show. A crew from S4C’s popular farming programme Ffermio filmed on the night.
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, said: “We are extremely grateful for the outstanding support received yet again. I would particularly like to thank the committee in Clwyd for arranging this concert and Ruthin Farmers Auction Ltd for hosting this splendid evening. ”
R.A.B.I’s Clwyd committee would also like to thank the NFU in Ruthin & Wrexham, Clwyd YFC, Morgans of Ruthin, Homewood Bound, Ruthin Décor, Patchwork Traditional Food Co, Llawr Betws Ltd, The Leyland Arms, Llanelidan, RVW Pugh Ltd, Dragon Drilling Ltd, Kvermeland Group Ltd, Tesco Ruthin, FUW and Fineline Printing & Stationery.
