More than 60 shooters aimed for the top prize at R.A.B.I Brecon & Radnor Committee’s clay shooting competition at the Mid-Wales Shooting Centre in Trefeglwys, Caersws on Saturday 18 June.
The ‘down the line’ competition proved to be very popular and extremely competitive with the five best shooters, who achieved a perfect score, electing harmoniously to equally share the £200 prize money. The prize winners were Shaun Gardener, Morgan Williams, Tom Moseley, Ricky Millichamp and Mark Bridges.
Paul Greenow, deputy chair of R.A.B.I’s Brecon & Radnor committee, said: “I would like to thank our event sponsor J & C Griffiths and Son, Agricultural Engineers, of Talgarth, Brecon, for providing support for our clay shoot. We rely on the kindness and generosity of local people and rural businesses and we, as a committee, are extremely grateful to everyone who contributes, either financially or by giving their time to help us.”
Linda Jones, R.A.B.I regional manager for Wales, said: “This year, up until the end of May, over £20k has already been paid in grants to beneficiaries in Brecon & Radnor, which is an increase of 42% in comparison to May 2015. Farming families are currently struggling to make ends meet and the lack of cash flow is certainly putting a strain on familial relationships.”
A raffle was also held on the day and thanks to all who donated prizes. A profit of £362 was made to help farming families.
