This is the third year that the auction has taken place at the Show and each year it gets bigger and more popular! On Friday evening, the Cornish Mutual marquee was full to capacity with eager guests spilling outside. Before the auction began, a ‘Cornish Supper’ was served, with all food and drinks kindly provided by local suppliers, whilst entertainment was provided by the Boscastle Buoys with their new guest soloist – auctioneer Edd Buckland!
A lively and entertaining auction followed with many lots attracting high bids. All of the auction items were generously donated by local firms and included a signed Leicester City football shirt and signed Liverpool football from Barclays. Other items up for grabs included wine and Champagne, locally-produced meat, tickets to shows and local attractions, gourmet meals and even holidays.
Many thanks to the many sponsors and local organisations who supported the event including Edward Buckland Auctioneers, PFK Francis Clark, Cornish Mutual and Barclays who provided match funding of £2,000.
In recognition of Barclays’ continued support, Mark Suthern, National Head of Agriculture at Barclays, was presented with R.A.B.I’s Dennis Brown Shield. Pictured below, left to right, are Nick Michell, R.A.B.I Cornwall Committee’s Chairman, Mark Suthern with the Dennis Brown Shield, Chris Riddle, former R.A.B.I Chairman and Alistair Mackie, Regional Agricultural Manager.
Looking forward to the 2017 Royal Cornwall Show!
