Committee members George and Elsie Fallows hosted a pea and pie supper which raised an incredible £7,387.
Whiston Village Hall in Staffordshire was packed with 150 guests who all tucked into the meal. Guests had the chance to win a number of prizes in the Fallows’ bottle raffle and the infamous ‘naff raff’.
The couple also organised an auction, led by Mark Simcock, with 130 lots up for grabs – including a stay in a log cabin. The auction alone raised £3,000.
George made a special donation of £900, which came from donations in lieu of gifts for his recent birthday.
Kate Jones, regional manager for the West Midlands, said: “I want to thank everyone who donated prizes and Barclays for their match-funding of £2,000.”
