The North Yorkshire committee won the North East regional award for their Strictly Dinner Dance, where 12 supporters put on their dancing shoes to raise £3,800.
Lord Plumb presented committee member Phil Gregg with the prize at R.A.B.I’s annual awards ceremony, held in Oxfordshire. Around 220 guests attended the event.
Joshua Hosier said: “Thanks go to the North Yorkshire committee for taking a leap of faith and doing something completely different. It involved an enormous amount of planning and hard work, but was enjoyed so much by everyone.”
Paige Dalby, who won the competition with her dance partner Sam Ullyott, also received the YFC Cup at the ceremony for her contribution to R.A.B.I. Paige is a member of Escrick YFC and not only did she take part in the dance, she also abseiled the Larpool Viaduct to raise funds.
Paige said: “I want to thank the North Yorkshire committee and Sally Conner for supporting me, I wouldn’t be here without you coming up with fabulous ideas and persuading me to take part in them.”
Joshua added: “Thank you Paige, for your fantastic and ongoing support. We need more people like you and it’s so refreshing to have young, enthusiastic people on board supporting us and bringing with them both YFC and business connections.”
