The annual horse ride took place in and around the beautiful Galleywood countryside in June and more than 50 horses and riders took part. A rosette and barbecue awaited them on their return and £1,200 was raised on the day. More than 120 guests gathered at The Rodings, Essex to enjoy a Sunday lunch in the company of guest speaker, Rob Harpick in July and an impressive £2,900 was raised.
Every year, R.A.B.I gives out around £2m in grants to help around 1,500 farmers, farmworkers and their dependants, of all ages. In 2014, R.A.B.I staff helped people claim around £379k in state benefits and more than £297k was paid out in grants to working farmers. Almost £23k was given out in grants in Essex alone during 2014.
R.A.B.I regional manager for the East, Lucy Bellafontaine said: “The Essex committee work hard to spread awareness of R.A.B.I’s support work and have a packed series of fundraising events throughout the year. The money raised during the summer will go directly to helping farming families in difficulty.”
