A Cornish cookery book proved to be the cherry on the top of R.A.B.I’s time at the Royal Cornwall Show this year when Cornwall Food & Drink managing director Ruth Huxley (above, middle) presented us with a cheque for £1,000!
Rick Stein and other top Cornish chefs have included their recipes in ‘The Great Cornish Food Book’ which celebrates the region’s renowned culinary fare and gives something back to those who farm the land and work the sea. Of each copy sold, £1 is shared between R.A.B.I and the Fishermen’s Mission. Ruth presented the cheque to R.A.B.I national chairman, Chris Riddle and Cornwall chairman Dawn Cardell at the Show.
Over in the Cornish Mutual marquee, Edward Buckland Auctioneers once again held their annual charity auction for farming charities R.A.B.I, Addington Fund and Farming Community Network (FCN) saying: “… it goes without saying that these three charities perform a vital role within the rural community discretely providing help and assistance to those in times of great need.”
Highlights of the auction included a weekend away in a fully fitted VW Camper van, donated by law firm Stephens Scown and two tickets to see Take That at the O2 Arena in London, donated by Barclays Bank. The auction and evening made a total of £8,500.
Commenting on this year’s show success, regional manager Pam Wills said: “Thanks also go to Edward Buckland Auctioneers for hosting a wonderful evening auction in aid of farming charities and there is still time to grab your copy of ‘The Great Cornish Food Book’ from www.greatcornsihfood.co.uk”
