The Hampshire R.A.B.I Committee team had a fantastic day at the Alresford Agricultural Show on Saturday 2 September and despite a grim weather forecast the rain held off until the day was nearly over.
Joe Corbett kindly supplied us with one of his vintage tractors, a Fordson Super Major, which attracted a lot of visitors. A competition was held where visitors could guess the year, town and country of manufacture of the tractor for £1 with the chance to win a hamper. From first thing in the morning the stand became a magnet for young and old to enter the competition and chat! A gentleman from Alresford was the winner out of the nearly 270 entries with ‘1962, Dagenham and United Kingdom’.
We also received a very generous donation from a local farmer and sold nearly £300 of cards, calendars and notelets. A thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile day. Thank you to the show society for giving their continued support and allowing to have such a great and prominent position on the show group.
