Retired Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, David Burke, has served as chair of his local committee for 8 years and has been heavily involved with organising charity fundraising events around the region.
R.A.B.I regional manager for the North East, Sally Conner said: “We are delighted that David has received a Trustee’s award – he has been a true friend as well as chairman of the North Yorkshire committee and I can’t thank him and his wife Betty enough for all the help and support over the last 8 years.”
Mr Burke collected the award from National Farmers’ Union (NFU) deputy president Minette Batters in front of a packed audience at R.A.B.I’s annual meeting on 13 May.
NFU deputy president Minette Batters was guest speaker at the meeting held in Oxford and spoke of the importance of the relationships between the NFU and NGOs, she said: “My earliest childhood memory was of wanting to be a farmer and that ambition never left me… I hope I bring that same drive and compassion to the NFU.”
