An unusual competition to guess how much milk Blodwen the cow produced in 305 days helped raise £343 at the Welsh Dairy Show.
Blodwen, a Holstein Friesian, belongs to Noel Morgan, joint chair of R.A.B.I’s Carmarthenshire committee. The correct answer was 10,599 litres – and the winning entrant earned himself a bottle of whisky.
Noel and colleagues from the Carmarthenshire committee were on hand throughout the show, helping to provide refreshments and spread the word about the farming charity’s work.
Amongst those to call on the R.A.B.I stand at the Welsh Dairy Show was Lesley Griffiths AM, Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs.
Noel Morgan said: “I would like to thank everyone who entered our competition and congratulations to the winner, Euros Evans, from Sarnau, Peniel. Thanks must also go to Ivor Davies and May Rees for donating a bottle of whisky as a prize.”
The Carmarthenshire committee’s fundraising efforts will continue at the Carmarthenshire Livestock Centre from November 29 to December 1 when they’ll be out selling raffle tickets for a daily Christmas hamper draw, along with Christmas cards and calendars.
