Running from 29 October to 6 November, R.A.B.I’s Welly Week is designed to be fun and at the same time raise funds and awareness of our work.
So far this year, we have given grants of almost £1.5m to 1,229 farmers and farming families in financial need. Increasingly, we are receiving calls from working farmers who need our help. We’ve helped 175 working farming families so far this year with grants of over £360,000. We couldn’t do this without your support. Here’s how you can help next week.
Do you work for an organisation related to farming or agriculture? Or perhaps you attend an agricultural college or are a member of a Young Farmers Club? Or maybe you know someone we’ve helped and want to give a little back?
We’re calling on you to get together with friends or colleagues or club members to come up with a welly-related fundraising challenge or event. Previous activities have included tractor pulls, welly-wanging competitions, sponsored country walks and welly pub crawls. How about a Halloween bash wearing boots? Or maybe bake a batch of cakes with a welly on and sell them! We’d love to hear about your novel fundraising ideas – the wackier the better.
If you don’t have time to organise an event you can still get involved – simply wear your wellies to work during Welly Week 2016 and donate £1 to help farmers in need via Just Giving: Text RABI18£1 to 70070.
