R.A.B.I regional managers Jenni Thompson and Milly Fyfe will be looking to bring home the bacon when they appear on popular BBC One daytime programme ‘Bargain Hunt’ on Friday 18 March.
Milly, who has been with R.A.B.I for eight years, is off to pastures new in May – to become chief executive of the Shorthorn and Beef Cattle Societies. She applied to go on the TV programme and roped long-time pal Jenni in for the auditions. Six pairs ‘with personality’ were selected from a possible 30.
Milly said: “I’m a big Bargain Hunt fan – it’s always on at lunchtime, when we sit down to eat on the farm. I’m quite interested in antiques and have been involved in some auction previews to raise money for R.A.B.I.”
Jenni added: “It was a lot of fun. Our strategy was to buy cheap and sell big! We were the red team and got to keep our fleeces, which are great mementoes.”
Jenni and Milly scouted around Brackley Antique Cellar with Oxford-based antiques expert Charlie Ross (pictured above), looking for ‘bargains’. They had to find three lots to auction off for a profit at the Newbury Auction House.
Jenni added: “We had three targets; something agricultural, something fun to wear and something with a bit of history. You’ll have to watch the programme to find out how we got on but, for us, it was definitely a golden day!”
UPDATE: If you watched the programme on 18 March you will have seen Jenni and Milly in the red team were the resounding winners, with a profit of £280! Watch the programme on iPlayer
