William Lamb received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Driffield Agricultural Society and R.A.B.I for his 40 years of supporting the charity.
“It was a most complete and unexpected surprise,” said William. “Few things could have given me more pleasure than receiving this award. I am delighted.”
In 1977 William took on the role as chairman of the East Yorkshire committee. Over the next 26 years he worked hard to build the committee into a strong team of keen supporters, before stepping down from the role of chairman in 2003.
Now, after a further 14 years of supporting R.A.B.I, William has decided to retire from the committee altogether.
“I will still support R.A.B.I events, but I feel the younger generation know what works best for fundraising these days. I have spent more than half of my years on the committee and it has never been in better health than it is now, so I know I’m not leaving a sinking ship.”
