Iain Soutar, director of Southern Counties Auctioneers, performed a fantastic rendition of ‘Turkey’s Christmas Tale’ at a carol concert at the Netherhampton Salesrooms near Salisbury. The concert was organised by Wiltshire volunteers.
“It was a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas with members of the farming community from Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset coming together,” said South Central regional manager Jenni Green.
“It’s been a busy year for the charity and we’ve paid out £52,000 in Wiltshire alone, providing support for 35 families in the county. That’s a 42 per cent increase on the same period in 2016.”
Reverend Richard Kirlew, rural chaplain at the Salisbury market, led proceedings at the carol concert, with the help of Rhys Evans, chairman of the Wiltshire committee. Salisbury YFC members starred in a nativity play, with auctioneer Charlie Coleman playing the part of Joseph.
The event was free to attend, with complimentary mince pies and mulled wine given out to guests to add a little more festive cheer. Donations and the sale of Christmas cards generated more than £380.
