RABI attended this year's Oxford Farming Conference, using the high-profile event as a platform to discuss the farming wellbeing gap and the need for greater preparedness when serious accidents occur on farms.
As part of the conference programme, RABI hosted a dedicated breakfast session focused on FarmersAid, a new initiative providing real-time, step-by-step guidance to support people during the first critical moments following a serious on-farm accident.
Guest speaker Professor Stuart Maitland-Knibb, a consultant in helicopter emergency medicine and pre-hospital emergency care, spoke about the realities of serious on-farm accidents and the role of timely, practical guidance in shaping what happens in the minutes before emergency responders arrive.
Emergency medicine skills were also put to the test on the RABI stand, where delegates took part in the Tourniquet Challenge. The activity tested decision-making and correct placement under time pressure, helping to simulate the conditions of a real on-farm emergency.
Engagement across the conference was strong, with many open and constructive conversations taking place on the RABI stand. Delegates showed real interest in FarmersAid, with many committing to share information within their businesses and workplaces, promote the QR code and encourage colleagues to download the app when it launches in June 2026.
