A team of staff from Alnorthumbria Vets cycled 140 miles in two days to visit their eight branches in Northumberland, raising £944.
The Alnorthumbira group is a veterinary practice providing small animal, equine and farm care. The team was made up of vets, nurses, receptionists and support staff. Four of the group members had very little cycling experience beforehand and had to buy bikes specifically for the challenge, with only three months to train!
Starting and finishing in Wooler, their route took them through Rothbury, Ponteland, Morpeth, Ashington, Amble, Alnwick and Seahouses. At the end, the team took a victory lap around the main ring at the Glendale Show.
The tour wasn’t without its challenges. Team member Richard Cuthbert suffered two punctures on the first day and Anna Bruguera’s chain snapped on the second. Fortunately, the group were able to fix the problems and get both Richard and Anna cycling again.
