Annabel James, an agricultural consultant from Suffolk, completed the London marathon in 4 hrs 12. She has raised more than £3,800 and donations are still coming in.
Annabel works for Landmark Systems where she provides accounts and crop recording software to farms across East Anglia.
She said: “I work with farmers, I live on a farm, my partner is a farmer, and my grandparents were farmers. It’s in my blood, so R.A.B.I was a natural choice.”
“I was surprised to find out that in 2017 Suffolk was one of the counties R.A.B.I gave out the most grants to. I never would have thought that where I live would be so high on the list of counties in receipt of financial aid. It just goes to show that you never know what battles other people may be fighting.”
Annabel raised funds with a hoedown party, an auction, and a raffle. She also secured sponsorships from a number of agricultural companies, including Massey Ferguson, TNS and Farmer’s Weekly. She smashed her fundraising target of £2,500 and expects her total to reach around £4,500.
“I’m really grateful for everyone who supported me and donated. With the recent bad weather affecting farmers these funds are much needed.”
