Denny Gibson’s final Bedale Book & Postcard Fair raised an impressive £1,400.
After 23 years of organising the biannual event, Denny (pictured centre above) has decided to retire. The fair originally started as a one-off fundraiser for the children of Chernobyl in 1996. By 2011, its main fundraising focus was R.A.B.I and over £20k has been generated for the charity since then.
While Denny is stepping down, this is not the end of the book fair. The Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray has taken over and will continue Denny’s legacy.
Sally Conner, regional manager for the North East, said: “I’d like to say a huge thanks to Denny and all the volunteers for their time, hard work and dedication in organising this event. This book fair was the best we’ve had in its many years and was a great swansong for Denny and her team.”
