Supporters from Cumbria claimed the Hunter Farm Cup at R.A.B.I’s awards ceremony, held in Oxfordshire. Laura Wilson collected the prize from NFU vice president Stuart Roberts.
The award was given in recognition of the committee’s successful annual Christmas carol services. Starting at Wigan Auction Mart in 2014, the carol services have now been replicated in the Cockermouth and Carlisle Auction Marts. Over the past few years, these events have raised more than £20,000.
R.A.B.I deputy chairman Joshua Hosier said: “Since their inception, the carol services have gone from strength to strength. The committee work tirelessly to decorate the marts, source readers, local schools, choirs and bands from across the county, which really brings a sense of community to each event.
“The carol services receive great support from both local and national businesses and farming organisations with no less than 20 sponsors last year, who made putting on the carol services possible.”
