Peter Hickling, Essex committee secretary, won the East regional award for his contribution to R.A.B.I.
Known as ‘Mr R.A.B.I’ among the committee members, Peter has been involved with the charity for many years. He doubles as chairman with Alan Wreathall, each being the other’s sidekick.
Lord Plumb presented Peter with his prize at R.A.B.I’s award ceremony in Oxfordshire.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “Peter is an amazingly dedicated member of the Essex committee. With his farming interests, connections and charm, he makes everything work and run smoothly. He’s helped to make sure that R.A.B.I events in Essex are firmly in the social calendar.”
Peter added: “Being secretary has given me the opportunity to work with new people, who have become real friends. I’d like to thank all of the farmers in Essex who are so supportive of R.A.B.I and help raise funds.”
