Shropshire farmer Ruth Morris challenged herself to a three day hike up north Africa’s tallest mountain – Mount Toubkal in Morocco – and raised over £700. The trek took her 4,167 metres up rocky terrain to reach the summit.
Ruth said: “I decided to do it as friend was already taking part. I have never done anything like this in my life and thought it was time I challenged myself to do something totally out of my comfort zone!
“We are hill farmers in South Shropshire and are aware of the ever-increasing struggles for farmers. I attended The Crazy Life of a Farmer’s Wife Ball last year where a representative from R.A.B.I talked to us about the fantastic work that the charity does. Hence, R.A.B.I was the first charity that sprung to mind when I needed to choose a cause to support.
“It was a tough few days, but the sense of achievement was amazing – not only getting to the summit, but also raising money and awareness for such a great charity.”
