Sonya Bryson of FarmWeb took on the Nottingham Robin Hood marathon and raised £1,276.
FarmWeb is a national insurance company that covers farming activities, farmers’ motor vehicles and agricultural equipment, as well as homes and contents. “My work involves insuring farmers for their business and domestic assets,” said Sonya. “Farming communities are very close and well connected and I became aware of the work R.A.B.I does many years ago.”
This was Sonya’s first marathon, which she completed with a friend. She said: “My running partner and I agreed to stick together throughout the race to help each other through the highs and lows. At 16 miles he started to flag and we slowed the pace down, but we stuck with it and crossed the line in 4hrs 23mins.
“Getting up at 5am to complete 10 miles of training before work wasn’t my favourite thing but it helped prepare me mentally as well as physically. The support on the day of the race from the people of Nottingham was superb and you can’t help but have a massive smile on your face as you cross the finish line… I even managed a sprint finish!”
