The occasional shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of visitors to the Forde Abbey Summer Fair. The crowds gathered at the abbey to support two charities: R.A.B.I and the Riding for the Disabled Association. Last year they raised £30,000, with £15,000 being donated to R.A.B.I.
The former Cistercian monastery, which is set in beautiful grounds in Chard, Somerset, opened its doors to an array of trade stalls, horticultural displays, funfair rides and live music. More than 150 vintage cars filled the grounds and a popular dog show also entertained. A major attraction was Jonathan Marshall’s display of falconry on horseback.
R.A.B.I regional manager, Pam Wills, said: “I’d like to thank the hosts at Forde Abbey and the summer fair committee for supporting farming families and choosing us as one of their charities of the year.”
