A harvest ball, held at the Pavilions at the Yorkshire Showground, raised £5,200.
Organisers brought agriculture onto the dance floor by decorating the hall with farm equipment, including a John Deere tractor. Atlantic 45 provided music for the night and were so popular that the crowd insisted they play until the end of the night.
Sally Conner, regional manager for the North East, said: “I’d like to thank Ripon Farm Services and Farmers and Mercantile for supporting this event. I’d also like to thank North Yorkshire committee member Rebekah Tadd, without whom the ball would not have happened.
“This year’s weather has caused issues for many people in farming, with the summer heatwave following on from a particularly cold and wet spring. The funds raised will go towards helping those who are struggling financially.”
