Hutchinsons, a crops production specialist, have been busy this year with fundraising events as they celebrate their 80th anniversary. Since January, they’ve raised around £15,000 to be split evenly between R.A.B.I and the Samaritans.
Their biggest fundraising challenge was climbing the Yorkshire three peaks, which generated more than £8,000. 28 people took part in climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough despite rain and 40 mile-an-hour winds.
Additional celebrations ranged from a ten pin bowling competition to a big cake day. More recently, they held a Christmas card competition, where their employees submitted designs. Each of the four winners featured the two charities logos and were sent out to more than 800 people.
Lucy Bellefontaine, regional manager for the East, received a cheque for £1,500 – which covers some of the donations. She said: “Hutchinsons have done a lot this year to raise so much. They also understand the importance of raising awareness about the work R.A.B.I does and have featured the charity in their newsletter. Their support is greatly appreciated.”
